Every programme is bespoke. We use the lead time to review your children's school and curriculum, match tutors, prepare materials and draw up your quote, so lessons can begin from your first day in Tokyo.

What this looks like in practice
Six weeks · Roppongi
Two sisters in the primary years of the British curriculum, in Tokyo with their family for six weeks across August and September. The family first contacted us about two months before arriving; after an online consultation we sent a proposed lesson plan and refined it together before the trip.
Lessons run each morning in the family's hotel lounge in Roppongi: 90 minutes a day with two tutors, one for each sister, and a third on standby. The programme opened with a Cambridge level assessment, so the plan reflects each child's actual level, not just her year group.
Over the six weeks that comes to around 60 hours of lessons per child, plus two to three mock exams. The all-in fee, covering both children's tuition, learning materials and tutor travel, came to around £6,000.

Frequently asked questions
How far in advance should we contact you?
A few weeks before you arrive in Japan. Matching tutors, preparing materials and quoting properly all take time. We can sometimes work to shorter notice, but availability is not guaranteed.
How should we contact you?
WhatsApp, email or phone all work; most families find WhatsApp easiest. Send your travel dates and your children's ages, and we will take it from there.
Is the consultation free?
Yes. Discussing your plans on WhatsApp and, where helpful, an online meeting to understand your requirements are free of charge, as is putting together the lesson plan. (Our separate education consulting service for school selection and admissions is a paid service.)
How is pricing set?
Each programme is quoted individually after the consultation, based on hours, subjects and location. You receive a quote covering the full stay before anything begins.
Why is this different from your regular tutoring service?
Our regular service is built for families living in Japan: long-term weekly tutoring for students at international schools whose curricula we already know well. A visiting family is different. The schedule is short-term and flexible, and your children's school and curriculum are usually new to us, so we review them first, agree a lesson plan with you in advance, and build each programme individually. That is why programmes are quoted case by case rather than at our standard rates.
Which currencies can we pay in?
We can accept payment in USD, GBP, EUR or JPY. For other currencies, contact us and we can discuss.
Can lessons take place in our hotel?
Yes. Hotel lounges and children's spaces work well; we confirm a suitable space with you before lessons begin. Lessons can also take place in a serviced apartment or private residence, or online.
What if we travel within Japan during our stay?
We can work around it. If you are in Tokyo, then in Kyoto or elsewhere for a few weeks, then back, lessons can pause while you are away or continue online, whichever you prefer. In-person lessons themselves are available at hotels and residences in central Tokyo only.
Do we need to speak Japanese?
No. Lessons and all communication with our team are in English.
Can lessons continue after we leave Japan?
Yes. Online lessons are available before you arrive and after you leave, if you would like continuity either side of the trip.
